The music is not uncommon for other venues. Most other venues use piped in music quite a bit and this can even be heard on TV. However, our main issue has been the volume of our band as they are not very audible, at least not where I sit. I've never understood how they can be so pure and loud when playing at halftime but not when they are in the stands. Also, we don't have any signature types of songs or beats that are there to really keep the crowd in the game. The piped music, especially the rap that many don't like, does get the players much more excited as you can see their reaction when it comes on in between plays and breaks. They did seem to offer much of the music offerings though, as there was a lot more classic rock rather than 50cent. There are many things that I would suggest to improve the atmosphere and experience and the band issue always comes up once we start home play.
Sorry, didn't mean to go off on you. I know they want to increase attendance, but I pay good money for my tickets (as do we all), and it p*sses me off that I'm subjected to that when I just want to have a good time pulling for my school
I don't mind the kids painting themselves, either. I just wish we'd express a little originality.
We're a University, originality should be integral to everything we do.
Hammer ----Saw Scott and he looked at me and said---Well aren't you gonna thank me---I forgot that I had called and was worried about the mosquitoes----He had the whole place double sprayed and the West Nile Virus didn't make it to the game!!!! Game management has got to be a pain in the ass!!!!!
The players and students really seemed to enjoy the PA music. I enjoyed watching their enjoyment.
The band seems to spend the majority of ther time resources on the halftime show which I thought was solid. Hopefully they can do a better job of figuring out who does what when. Generally speaking I think it all sounds better when UL is winning
