UL vs Nicholls Game 2

played a little better in game 2. another good start from the pitching staff. The bats beat up some average pitching which it should. An our middle infield looked great. So some positives to build on going into sunday. I was curious to see what the bats would do against a number 2 arm cause I didnt exspect there number 2 to be that good. Now we will see what Geith(sp) will do on the road in his first start as a cajun. Rule of thumb is always gonna have to swing it on Sundays to win. We need to start having that killer instinct to put poeple away to get a sweep

Jud was again, dominant. I'm not touting the horn too loud; I know Nicholls probably doesn't have a big time offense, but that takes nothing away from 7 strong allowing 4 hits, scattered. Poirrier looks good early, as does Bowman. Buillard seemed to struggle closing things down. As he did last year, he would get 2 strikes on almost every batter, than fail to end the deal. Something to watch. Tomorrow should be interesting. I'm ready to see what Geith can do. Also, I wanna see the bats come alive.

One thing: Is it just me, or does Trask look puzzled everytime he steps in to the box? He just looks totally fooled on everything to me. When Nichols pinch hit for Bowman, he just looked so much more comfortable at the plate. I dunno. I know its only been 2 games, but Switzenberg I'm not sold on. We'll see. Hope the guy turns out to be a good one!

I am surprised we have not nseen Marvel. I was impressed with him in the Spring. I think Swish will be ok. He got a hit Sat. and laid down a good bunt on Friday as I recall. Only the first games. Porrier made a couple of errors in the first game but has come back very strong.

Lance struggles against lefties, per Brooks. I don't know how many more lefties the Colonels can run out there, but I'd love to see Marvel swing it as well.

If I heard Coach correctly on Bitter's show Saturday morning he mentioned NSU starting lefties for all three games.

3rd base will a situation to keep an eye on. I know the guy is playing out of position, but his play is not good enough. Overall the pitching and defense look good. As is usually the case hitting will determine how well our season goes.

You heard correct. 3 LH starters for Nicholls. If I remember right, I think they have about 7 or 8 LHP on their roster. I wish we had a couple more.
