I think that there has been more money taken into the budget after 4 games -------with the 1.4 mill the last 2 weeks and the 58K attendance or more from the first 2 plus the beer ---we have to be way up!!!!

I would much rather see Kansas State and Illinois on the schedule rather than LSU, Nebraska, Texas, Florida etc. etc.
If the financial situation dictates that we play a top-10 program to get the really big bucks, please just schedule one of them, and certainly not back to back.
This is absurd. The two things are not mutually exclusive. I understand the necessity of scheduling "guarantee" games. But I also expect something slightly above complete embarrassment in those games. I didn't expect to win them, but last Saturday was a joke.
And the fact that so many around here are satisfied with that outcome because we got paid and satisfied that we made LSU "earn" their win is why this football program has been one of the worst in the nation for too many years. We were just humiliated and the consensus is, "oh well."
I don't think anyone is "happy" that we lost those games. The reason we play them is because to continue to play D-IA athletics it takes money. We are not alone in doing this. Notice I did not say to continue to play football we need to play these games. This money goes a long way in supporting the whole athletic program.
If some of you don't like playing these games, I'm sure the athletic department will be happy to take a donation of $1.4 million.
Nobody's satisfied dude. People just cope differently.
And because we've had so much practice coping with UL football, some are pretty good at it.
If we go 7-5, I will care exactly 0% that we got blown out against LSU and NEB. If we go 5-7, those 2 games will reinforce my opinion that we need to go in a different direction.
Some of you might forget that many of these "guaranteed" games are scheduled years in advance. Illinois was horrible when added to the schedule but came off a Rose Bowl appearance when the Cajuns came to town.
Last fall, the school turned down playing Arkansas in 2009 for $1.1 million in Little Rock because it wanted a more winnable game. Then a home-and-home with Kansas State opens up. The Cajuns win that game, a huge victory regardless of how bad the Wildcats might be considering they're from the Big 12, yet I've heard few people give credit to the school for scheduling that game.

No need to worry everyone. When I win the Powerball jackpot Wednesday, I will allocate money to bring regional BCS schools to Cajun Field every year for at least the next 10 years.
