    Cajun T you're wrong.

The helmets that have it are the ridell helmets.
The air/schutt helmets didnt have anything removed off of them, it's just the way they are.
It isn't mandatory to have that Lafayette sticker on the back.
Lafayette was never on the cajuns football jersey, sleeve or collar.
Just the Louisiana across the chest and the iterlocking UL on the hip.
Some of the new jerseys for other sports i think will stop using Lafayette anyway being that we have that new contract with russell who did football before.

Let's just change our name to University of Acadiana Ragin Cajuns. I wonder if Acadiana High would allow us to use it?

Just for the sake of discussion, try Acadiana University, like Auburn University. It has a better ring to it than Univerity of Acadiana.

You are correct in the different types of helmets, but its still part of the uniform. The jersey has Louisiana across the front, there is no need for the city tag. Only the use of UL is required to have the city tag located somewhere on the uniform. The new TPX baseball hats do not have Lafayette on it, but pay close attention to the logo on the sleeve beneath the pepper, it has Lafayette. We are not required to have the city tag when using "Louisiana", only UL.

Since the jersey has Louisiana on it, why the need to add Lafayette on the sleeve?

Regarding the requirement to have Lafayette added when using UL, that just goes to my argument of using either "LU" or "L" along with Louisiana and we are in violation of nothing. I prefer the "UL", but am tired of fighting the battle. Is it worth it to make a change now that corrects this or continue to fight the battle in hopes of one day overcoming it, possibly years from now? We are seeing progress, but it is slow in coming and certainly not universal. I am not being argumentative, just trying to find a realistic solution to our identity problem.

Because the use of "UL" on the hat or so the bloody rule goes. If it is not in use on any part of the uniform,ie: hat, jersey or pants, then its not required.

I would rather just drop the U as opposed to flipping our initials. Seems like it would be an easier transition. I doubt either will happen though.

To answer you question the "Lafayette" is on the jersey b/c UL is on the hats w/o "Lafayette" on them. The law is that when UL is used "Lafayette" has to be present on the uniform, not the individual piece of the uniform.....I think.

You know, this is so rediculous to follow. We MUST find a solution to it. I am fine with just an "L" and Louisiana. Heck, anything is better than this nonsense.

Yup.....but I have a feeling that we will have this talk for a long time b/c I doubt we get to use the UL soley for a long time (if ever) and I don't think the university has any intention fo changing the logo.

I have sent an email to Julie Dronet but it would help if others on this site sent her emails. Who knows....maybe she has never thought of using the single "L" and maybe she can clarify as to why we use the 's and "Lafayette" when using "Louisiana" as our logo.
