You're right. Acadia is the proper name, but Acadia is a specific region in Canada. Its where we are from. I like the term Acadiana for our new home here. We're still Acadians, just have a new name for where we live.

It's not a new name. For as long as I can remember the university has had two official names with Université des Acadiens being one.
