No offense but if I'm Billy Napier and I'm trying to convince some all-pro linemen and running backs to transfer from UL to Florida, the last thing I would do is recommend the school hire some personality who might convince those players to stay....

. . . glad many here are getting some schooling and education on how the portal works, NIL works and what are our current financial circumstances as they relate to NIL, the hiring of CMD and Louisiana’s continued financial funding for support staff . . . maybe, just maybe that will spare the board of all of the constant and ill found postings relative to those issues which only the naive and those with lack of actual knowledge would make . . . let’s try and support our coach, players and staff and see how that turns out . . . peace in numbers, especially in matters we have absolutely no control over at this juncture could work wonders . . . especially since it is our only realistic choice . . .

Well Billy knew that Des was responsible for recruiting about half of the team that he had here when he was here. Every head coach wants to see their protégés do well and have success.

Apparently it was Des who recruited most of Billy's best players so no guarantee he has success here second time around

dont shoot the messenger but this entire athletic department is on hold until after the stadium renovation. expect little change anywhere. but all bets are off after and many of us expect the ad to move on as well

I am surprised AD has not left yet. I don't expect him to be here after stadium renovation either, sure he is tired of Martin Hall BS.

I was one of the biggest critics of the Des hire. Still think it was the wrong move. But he's our coach. Period. He HAS to have time to at least prove himself. It is WAY too early to talk about firing him.

Just maybe it is not the head coach we should be questioning but the defensive coordinator. Defense lost to ODU, not the offense, and one could argue defense lost most of the close games last year. Isn't Morgan only in his second year as D Coordinator, like Des as head coach? And, he is listed as D Coordinator and Safeties coach. Tim Leger is listed as offensive coordinator, recruiting coordinator and wide receiver coach. That's a full plate. Is Des still calling plays? If so, why not leave that to his offensive coordinator and free up Dez to focus on the whole game and not just the offense? Why the double and triple duties of the coordinators and head coach? Are those budget moves as well?

If Des has two losing seasons in a row, it would be best to keep him 2025 so the new stadium can help him get wins.
