why debate somebody making it up as he goes? i think we can all agree that mike des success means lafayette success. the process of the lack of search or seemingly giving in to budget constraints is obvious to anyone not compromised or of sound mind. the vic character seems to be little of both. the money was there and then it wasnt? sounds like athletics burned some bridges with the people who control the purse strings
. . . who are the people you speak of that “pay the bills at Martin hall” . . .
A lot of the same people on here poo pooing the Des hire are some of the same folks who were pushing for Brad Boyd for hoops. Not anti Brad but Des has a better college coaching resume.
Des is somewhere around 7 or 8 years in as a coach at the D1 level. He was handed the keys with a blue print on how to get a program to the top 20s, that had never been before to the top 20s, of college football before. All he’s got to do is follow the script. As Maggard said the product wasn’t broken when he hired Mike so it gave him the luxury of hiring from with in. Someone that could just keep the ship moving in the same direction.
In MBB on the other hand if Marlin gets let go the program would be broken in many peoples eyes and you’d have to hire someone to redirect that ship. Many on here criticizing Mike, think B Boyd’s resume would be one to hire, in order to redirect that ship, as they were calling for him and singing his praises, during the season. And those were the same people who are now calling Mike a high school coach? ______r PLEASE.
