Ok. If you would have seen his post, your questions would be directed towards him not me.
This is what he said:Great job by Coach Glassco. However, this makes me wonder why our men's teams can't effectively use the portal to strengthen their teams, specifically FOOTBALL & Basketball.
While plenty of power returns to Louisiana softball's lineup, it still was in need of some more juice for the 2024 season.
Ragin' Cajuns coach Gerry Glasco and his staff dipped into the transfer portal and landed St. Thomas sensational freshman infielder Brooke Ellestad, she announced via her Twitter page Wednesday.
Could it be that Brooke Ellestad wanted to play for the Cajuns in the first place, but did not have an offer in hand, so she went to the smaller school to prove herself?
Just thinking out loud.
Jordan Brown and Greg Williams Jr. came from the portal to the Cajuns basketball team. I believe Jalen Dalcourt did as well. Terrance Lewis II was a grad transfer. That is 4 key guys from the 2022-23 team. Back in 2018, we had three transfers that had sat out a year help win a regular season title. Prior to that, Shawn Long transferred to us from Mississippi State. I would argue that the Cajuns basketball program has used the portal well in recent years.
Yes, I would say that the MBB and Women's softball has been the biggest of all of our teams with D1 transfers. Baseball and women's basketball, then tennis and gold are the others. Seems as though CBN did a better job of this in football than CMD, but I would say that MBB and Softball have clearly been the teams that look to the portal the most.
