Some of you guys would rather play against nice guys and get 15k in Cajun field rather than against hated rivals with 25-30k in the stands. Can't be associated with anyone that has ever screwed us over? Conference mates are not supposed to be best buddies, in the G5 there is no loyalty, just contracts, money and mutually beneficial relationships. May as well get some great match-ups while the P5 sticks it to us year after year.
Let's be real if we had the opportunity we would have abandoned the Sun Belt for greener pastures as well. We got lucky to be in this situation.
I don’t think what’s happening to CUSA has anything to do with the necks. From what I’ve seen over the years on their bbs board their fans have been very supportive of the conference. They stick up for their brethren and mostly just try to denigrate the Sunbelt and our teams. They seem to be pretty good conference mates.
Their budget is a completely valid point, I didn’t realize it was so low. They do have new FEMA facilities though and they do have tradition, and Terry Bradshaw.
Screw @ Ruston!
Now go forward and shout it from the mountain tops!
I'll jump in, just cause I know cajun55. Here's my 2¢...play LT every year as our rival game & OOC finale; leave them to rot in CUSA 4.0.
SBC adds USM & MU this year, getting to 12. In 2 years add 2 more - assuming SBC continues to increase rankings and status.
West pursues Memphis or Tulsa (if either are still in AAC)
East pursues ECU, ODU, or JMU
I don't like the idea of adding any former conference mates (LTU, WKU, MTSU). But, this is just my 2¢.
Only way I'd want to add Tech is if we go to 14 teams, I'm pretty happy with 12, but I think the SBC has a great opportunity right now to get teams from C-USA. I think if we were to go to 14 LA Tech would be the best West addition after Southern Miss. I'd love to hear a better option other than sliding over Troy to the West and adding 3 Eastern teams.
I like Western Kentucky for basketball purposes, I miss the old BBall rivalry, but I don't think they move the needle for football and we would still be looking at an empty visitors section at Cajun Field. I don't have any issue with former SBC schools, let them eat crow and come back if they want. I guess I just don't have the loyalty to the SBC that some of you all of sudden have since the AAC is going a different direction based on tv markets. I don't blame them one bit for trying to improve their programs situation 8 years ago.
