WKU and MT and the MAC would do themselves right by aligning together. MAC would become better, WKU and MT would join a better conference then the CUSA at the moment and the good news is that La Tech, UTEP, ODU and FIU would have to figure it out for themselves. We could then grab JMU and ODU and move Troy to the West. All good and all done.
While they haven't been to the NCAA since they left the Sun Belt they won a 1st round NIT game last year and went to the NIT Final Four 3 years ago. I remember them knocking off a few top 25 teams in recent years too. Certainly not up to the standards of their fanbase but I wouldn't call that irrelevant. I would love to rekindle that rivalry in Basketball, I'm certain their fanbase would remember the 6th man and the logo dancing.
Some of you need to go read the tech board. They would rather rot in CUSA than "lower" themselves by coming to "the SunBelch".
____ those delusional inbreds. Let them rot.

Fans on a message board don't equal a desperate President and AD. I'd love to see their AD beg for a SBC invite.
Again not about us, but think about the rivalries with ODU, JMU, Marshall, Georgia Southern and App will have.
We get the bonus of adding USM who will be a nice draw for us once they are playing better football. USA will continue to grow a fan base and should travel better soon. But USA, TROY and USM will have some really good crowds and rivalries. It's about the entirety of the SBC, not about UL.
Marshall, App and Georgia Southern have history. Coastal is becoming everyones most hated rival.
Look at what we have added to our destination travels if this occurs:
Already great college town destinations:
Boone, Conway (Myrtle Beach), Statesboro (Savannah), Atlanta
New Destinations:
Norfolk (VA BEACH), Harrisonburg, Va (great mountain town/college town) and Huntington (not a great town, but a really good college town if you have not been there, I suggest making the trip).
Also add the west:
Mobile, Lafayette, San Marcos, Hattiesburg (good college town), Jonesboro (Memphis), Troy (Birmingham), it would only really leave Monroe as a _____tie arse city to travel to.
Tech deserves the position it is in right now. When they were in the same conference as us. Always did what was best for them even if it didn’t benefit the sunbelt. Also what they do to UL all the childish antics that they done to the university as well. Just last year when the sunbelt commissioner talked about a possible merger with CUSA it was tech’s AD that was arrogant comment about UL should do what it takes to get to CUSA . And that turd left a few months later ran to Vanderbilt . Let tech stay in that so desired conference because in their eyes they are too good to be associated with us.
Vannini's article did not say they were real candidates for SBC expansion. He said "Old Dominion and James Madison are in Virginia and a bit outside the footprint, but they could work as travel partners. They have large athletic budgets, in the $50 million range, though those budgets are heavily subsidized by student fees."
He also said that after saying this about USM and Marshall, "Southern Miss and Marshall are largely viewed by people in the Sun Belt as the strongest choices. Both have football history, long runs of success and, most importantly, engaged fans who travel, especially when they’re successful. Much like the Sun Belt benefited from adding App State and Georgia Southern from the FCS because they had solid fan bases (as opposed to “TV markets”), Southern Miss in particular is smack dab in the middle of the Sun Belt’s footprint."
My take from the article was that USM and Marshall were the real candidates and ODU and JMU were second tier candidates.
