I still remember the 1978 "playin" game b/t the Red Sox and Yankees. I had been to Fenway that year and being a 10 year old kid, became a huge Red Sox fan. At my school our principal was related to Guidry so we got to watch the game in class. Needless to say my Red Sox shirt was not a big hit. After that game I became fully engrossed in the Red Sox/Yankee rivalry. F*&#@ Bucky Dent! _
I am a little unique when it comes to the Red Sox/Yankees. I am not a fan of either one and am happy when both struggle. Go Devil Rays.

The analogy of Des going to LSU is poor as he is still in college. We are talking about people after they finish school. _
The analogy with Desmo was just that, an analogy, players transfer all the time. Which makes it a very valid analogy.

TuffGuy, you're tired of the way the Saints are run but never got tired of the Cajuns? Seriously?

I guess my understanding of being a fan is you are a fan of that team through thick and thin. I'm not going to go be a BR fan because our program is terrible. I guess I've got my Saints blinders on to understand.

    Geaux Cajuns, GO Saints!

1 Difference, I went and graduated from UL, and I didn't do it because the football team was good. With that said, I am forever locked with the school, and through good and bad, I cant just pretend that my diploma is from somewhere else. On the flip side, I have not a single true connection to the New Orleans Saints, or even New Orleans as a city...well aside from the state taxes that I help pay to keep mini-Al Davis happy. With that difference, I can choose not to be around a saints program that is run horribly, and that is exactly what I did.

    Its all of that.

Also, who could forget the last three games of the 2002 season? LOL!! Well played, boys...well freakin played!!!

Does everyone living in Louisiana have to be a Saints fan? Does everyone in Louisiana have to be an LSU fan, a UL fan, etc, etc? I grew up in Louisiana and have been a Cowboys fan as long as I can remember. I no longer root for them above all, because I do not like Terrell Owens. I am now also a Panthers fan because of Jake, but will still root for them after he leaves, because I like their coaching and the way they play football. I follow the Saints as well, but they have never been on the top of my list.

Imo, if you were a Saints fan before Jake went to Carolina and now you're a Carolina fan then I think that's just a bad fan. I could understand if Carolina wasn't in the same division as the Saints but for petes sake they play each other twice a season.

(I know this would never happen, just hypothetical) If Desmo transfered to A&M BR after last season, would you be a BR fan?

I just don't get it. Explain it to me. _
Here is the deal with the NFL. As soon as the NFL went to free agency so did the fans. Fans find a player that they can identify with and follow that player no matter what team he plays for. For example, I pull for the Broncos, Bears and Panthers because of Jake, Brandon and Peanut. These are guys I know from when I played here during the Stokley/Baldwin transition.

The Panther fans you see on here were Saints fans for decades but when Haslett decided an unhealthy Brooks was better than a healthy Jake and cost the Saints a playoff spot. Then the following year Jake leaves for Carolina and within two years is in the Superbowl and had they won it he would have been MVP of the game, the Saints lost a ton of fans.

The Saints are one of the worst franchises in all of professional sports history, slightly ahead of the Washington Generals. When you pull for the Cajuns and have to deal with so many failures its easy to see why anyone can pull for a NFL team that when they are healthy are at the Top of the NFC.
