I think it is a good bet Spenkuck does not return unless somebody else besides Smith pays their own way. However, Spenkuck is still on the roster at this point and Gordon is not. This news is very recent however and official roster may yet be adjusted. NCAA is not giving basketball players their year back as it is not a spring sport. That has already been decided. Therefore Gordon should have two years remaining. No idea if they think a waiver for immediate eligibiltiy is possible here. I do know they have been working hard on making their waiver case for Butts and Akwuba. They are very optimistic they will be successful with Butts and somewhat optimistic on Akwuba. No guarantees of course.
So now the blame is on Brock instead of Marlin?? That's not the way it should be. Marlin is approving all these moves. Dou hasn't worked out and that was Brock's guy too. Not sure how all of this will work out.

So he is basically the recruiting coordinator

This kid could be special for us if he can be healthy. Out of High School he had offers from:

    University of California
    University of Arkansas
    Baylor University
    Depaul University
    Georgia Tech
    University of Houston
    Iowa State
    LSU
    Miami
    NC State
    Oklahoma
    Oklahoma State
    Oregon
    Penn State
    SMU
    TCU
    Texas A&M

247 Sports had him as the #37 ranked Small Forward in the country, the #148 nationally ranked player and the #8 player in the state of Texas.

One more time, head coach is ultimately responsible for all results, good and bad. If my post indicated I did not realize that, I assure you I do. Dou did struggle much of the year but improved quite a bit in the final portion of the season. I predict that improvement to continue. Agree none of us know how all these moves will work out. On paper, we have improved talent significantly. Of course the injury and eligibility issues make it understandable that some are skeptical.

That's an "eye-popping" list of schools...

Dude every post cannot be a distortion covering every detail and responsibility.

    Some things are a given.

CM was simply pointing out a unique aspect of this particULar recruitment.

Has anyone ever said the football teams success or failures is on Tim Leger? It was an odd statement. They are all TEAMS, they win and lose together and it all should fall on the head coach both good and bad. Every team has a coach that is either the recruiting coordinator or lead recruiter. Nothing unique about it.

    Every recruitment is unique.

Odd statement I agree because there is always a "What did you see in him?" question at the end. Good or bad.

He didn’t say this recruit...said an assistant took the lead on recruitING this period..which isn’t unique at all...and if we never had anyone taking the lead in recruiting before now that could explain our lack of success. To then say any success or lack there of will point back to this assistant is an odd statement. Could you imagine if somebody said Hud going 5-7 was on Reed Stringer?
