Including next year, I believe so.
Including next year, I believe so.
I’m not a Big Fish fan, he’s never delivered. Still almost all coaches look for strong assist coaches whose best coaching ability is recruiting. Often they come with a player or two to get their collegiate foothold.
Some head coaches best asset is an ability to assemble an outstanding staff.
Marlin and almost every coach in America is going to get a pass this year. Buy out money except at the P-5 elites will be scarce this upcoming sports year.
It’s time for a healthy year and no on court excuses.
I’m sure all the media and coaching contracts going forward will have all kind of “Acts of God” clauses compared to today’s.
I hate the “potential” label but this team being assembled will have potential. Hopefully not for roles on Gray’s Anatomy. Or Dr. Oz.
Bro Big Guppy is here as long as he wants to be here. Playing in front of no fans won’t bother him one bit. Since he doesn’t play in front of many fans anyway.
The Robert Lee hire was the death nail in this program. Only to be followed by the crypt keeper. It’s done, toast, men’s basketball will never be a perennial NCAA tournament team ever again.
The nation wide search with the Glynn Cyprien hire was first domino.
The second domino was then novice David Walker publicly stating that Robert Lee came in second.
Third domino (which I supported) was the hire.
Fourth domino was APR violations and multiple program reboots and excuse after excuse to keep Lee.
Unfortunately the multiple reboots have become more common under Marlin.
Perennial, as in pre death penalty, I get.
6 NCAA appearances post death penalty isn't. 6 in 40 years. This slide has gotten worse with every hire since BP. Marty the blind squirrel, Jessie's appearances tainted, Cyprien train wreck, Lee propped up, and now "Can't get a break Bob". No pun intended towards injured players; always something.
We have the right AD. We don't have the money to fix this.
All these moves has certainly generated a lot of interest, me included.
Thanks. If you track our ADs since TDP, you can almost but not quite mirror the decline. The periods where football was nomadic and later on life support is where guidance and supervision was lost with basketball.
That's what I mean we got the right AD. Some might not think he's being aggressive enough, but none of us know exactly the discussions between Maggard and Marlin. I trust Maggard can help get us better, but I don't realistically see the pre death penalty days ever returning.
