One assistant coach has taken the lead on the recruiting efforts this period. Any success or lack thereof on the court will point back to him in some way. In Gordon's case, it may be a different guy that took the lead since he is originally from Houston. I think it is a good bet Spenkuck does not return unless somebody else besides Smith pays their own way. However, Spenkuck is still on the roster at this point and Gordon is not. This news is very recent however and official roster may yet be adjusted. NCAA is not giving basketball players their year back as it is not a spring sport. That has already been decided. Therefore Gordon should have two years remaining. No idea if they think a waiver for immediate eligibiltiy is possible here. I do know they have been working hard on making their waiver case for Butts and Akwuba. They are very optimistic they will be successful with Butts and somewhat optimistic on Akwuba. No guarantees of course.
Bartley was one of our best pickups. Very strong two way player. Guy went from a role player at BYU to the Louisiana State Player of the year his senior collegiate year. More recently he was player of the year in one of the top leagues in Spain. If any of those transfers play at that level, we will have lots of success soon.
I really can’t believe you are gonna push this narrative that our success or failures will fall on an assistant coach...not the head coach who is you know...actually coaching and signs off on every player. So I guess if we are good next year he should replace the head coach?
