We are not immuned to this, the SBC has 22 player currently in the transfer portal and could be more to come. If you look at the transfer portal right now their are around 318 players in the portal. And their will be more to come. That is almost 1 per team and again, this list grows every day.

I don't think this is a concern at UL, it is a problem in the NCAA, it has become a free agency of sorts. Mid majors are not the only ones this is affecting, their are major universities that are seeing high level 3 Star and 4 star athletes transferring every day.

State, Troy and Southern all have new or 1st year coaches not shocked at the turn over troy and state also replenished with some talented guys

Both the JUCO guy and Mississippi State transfer guy are expected to provide perimeter scoring. If they will is an unknown. However, Jalen shot less than 29 percent from three which was a big disappointment. We will miss his mid range shot which he was good at.

Yeah Mike but we've expected a lot from guys in the past and they do nothing. At least we knew what we were getting with Jalen. I guess I just don't have much confidence in Marlin.

This year, absolutely. The issue I see is that had what? 4 guys transfer out last year as well?

Johnson is going to be surely missed. He brought size and a ton of skill especially down the stretch this past year. The reason for him leaving is unknown to most of us outside of the basketball staff and team. Personally, I wish him well.

With that said, it has become sort of a "trend" where we are having guys transfer out these past few years. Whatever the reason, it does show a little concern.

It's a big concern for me.

Don’t know if Ertel was the leading scorer, but he was ULMOST most important player to my view of their team.

Ertel for ULM, Quan Jackson was just 10 points shy of being Georgia Southern’s leading scorer.

3 scholarships last year, 2 of which there were known extenuating circumstances. As I stated earlier before Johnson there hasn’t been a transfer that was expected to be in the top 8-9 man rotation in quite some time besides that situation last year.

So if marginal players are coming here and then transferring out after 1 year, is it something that maybe they are being told by the staff to lead them to believe they will have more of a role and playing time? I mean, Temple was not real highly recruited. He was here for 1 year and then gone. Things just don't jive when you have guys leaving after such short stints here.

With this new transfer situation, IMO, this is no different than everyone of us in the “working” world...we ALL look for better opportunities...and you know what, sometimes we leave jobs that we really like and appreciate, but we still test the waters elsewhere...why can’t this be the very same thing with basketball players?
