When I was a kid, we were at a friends house off of Bellevue Plantation Road. There are coolies between the properties that drain into the Vermillion River, which we were playing in. All of a sudden water started rushing into the coolies from the River! Am I right in assuming this was due to the high tide coming in?
Go to the link below to see the Oroville dam spillway in action. They haven't opened it all the way. They are only going to release about 30,000 CFS right now. It's capacity is 100,000 cfs. As a comparison, the Mississippi River in Baton Rouge is passing 1.3 Million CFS.

The video may not come up right away as there are lots of people wanting to see this and they will cut you off after a little while.
Didn't take long to have to put the spillway back in service. I was looking at the drought monitor map yesterday and for the first time in an extremely long time Cali didn't have any locations in drought. Just a small section as abnormally dry.
this is a youtube drone video from the California department of water resources made during the opening of the gates. Pretty neat.

Have the Nebraska floodwaters reached the Gulf?
So I was in Clearlake today... Space Center Blvd in the median... 2 women trying to flag cars down, crying, yelling jibberish at the passing vehicles. I stopped, dodged some traffic and mad my way to them!! I asked what was wrong?? Exact words: "Dont you know that the world will end in 12 years because of MMGW?" I looked them both in the eyes and said, "get your sssss home and do the dishes, make supper for your husband, and you damned well better have a drink ready for him as he walks in the door!"
How was your day?
