The Mississippi River is still at flood stage at every reporting point on the river. The water levels are receding at the lower reaches but there is still snow melt and normal rains to contend with. There are roads flooded in some portions of St. Martin Parish and they anticipate them to be flooded for some time now. They did a good thing by opening the Bonnet Carre Spillway when they did. I think it lowered the water levels in the river to accept future flows that might have caused a problem later on this spring. Bottom line there will be a threat of flood until late May or early June.
Another storm to drop rain and snow in the upper Mississippi river valley.

Just read Corps of Engineers will be considering reopening the Bonnie Carre spillway. Another high crest for NOLA is forecast for May 11th.
