Nobody understands how hard it is to win on the road in college basketball...
Well that went well lol, bad Saturday in Cajun Land.
Tulane first, Tech with the icing on the cake.
Loving it, now back to the beach for me.
I typically don't respond to these type of treads. While I like football and baseball, basketball is the sport I am most passionate about. What I saw last night was a team that does not have enough talented depth. We don't have any "bigs" besides Gant. I am very worried about next years team because we still have not signed anyone to take Gant's place. I was expecting our young players to show improvement this year to help replace the departing seniors from last year which has not happened. No one has stepped into the leadership roles that last year's seniors had. I don't see the "refuse to lose" mentality that we had last year. I don't see the cohesiveness that we had last year. I see a bunch of individuals not working as a team. I think Malik and Marcus did everything they could last night--the issue is Malik, Marcus and JeKeenan are quite leaders--we are missing vocal leadership. Our recruiting must improve--we need to recruit some bigs that can help rebound and protect the rim. Every year, I contribute a large amount of money to the basketball program. Based on the results I am seeing, I don't think that will continue.
Thanks for the post. I have seen a handful of games and my observations are the same as yours. One additional problem is the lack of production from the SG position. If you were recruited for your 3pt prowess...you need to take and make a few. We have not replaced any of our departed seniors.
