Before I predict our potential, I want to see the product we put on the field. I hope to see a well conditioned team that makes few mistakes (no mistakes are impossible). I also wonder what the game day decision making approach will be. Sometimes the previous staff was overconfident (thinking we could stop ULM in OT and not going for two) while sometimes they were overly emotional. An example of that is throwing the ball on the last play of the half at LA Tech deep in your own territory resulting in a pick six. I have a feeling Coach Napier will stay poised on game day which will rub off on the team. That will help the 2020 recruiting efforts.
All true Mike, but did you not get excited about the MBB recruits before Julien's injury? Look, I think the rankings are important, more so for a new staff trying to send a message throughout the region that the Culture is changing and something special is about to happen at this program. In today's college football environment, it is branding and marketing at it's basic level. I don't expect to remain in the Top 50 in recruiting, but it's certainly not out of the question to be in the 60 plus rankings after a successful season.

Selling recruits on your vision and process, and having recruits sell each other is a huge step in building your program. Those rankings mean little to the marginal college football fan, but to a staff and the recruits in that class, it's a matter of pride and basic recognition for their efforts. You don't win in any sport, without good players.

I remember thinking.. “why can’t we get these top tier talent guys in Louisiana”. I remember thinking.. “there’s no reason why we should be dominating this p|ss poor league and competing at the top of the G5...

As I said I am encouraged but not going to get overly excited just yet. I also understand touting commits is simply promoting your program. Of course that is a good thing.
