It's early, but only East Carolina and SMU are ahead of UL in the G5 247 recruiting rankings today.

That is certainly encouraging but none of these guys have played a down of their senior year yet. Hope we keep a few scholarships for late bloomers. As I never got too discouraged when our rankings were not as high as now, I am not getting as excited as some when they are rated higher because of the subjectivity of how those are made. Before I predict our potential, I want to see the product we put on the field. I hope to see a well conditioned team that makes few mistakes (no mistakes are impossible). I also wonder what the game day decision making approach will be. Sometimes the previous staff was overconfident (thinking we could stop ULM in OT and not going for two) while sometimes they were overly emotional. An example of that is throwing the ball on the last play of the half at LA Tech deep in your own territory resulting in a pick six. I have a feeling Coach Napier will stay poised on game day which will rub off on the team. That will help the 2020 recruiting efforts.

You just had to mention that end-of-game decision to not go for two. Still ____es me off.

Both of those recruiting so well this year surprise me, though ECU moreso than SMU.

SMU has three of LA’s top 50. Who is their connection?
