Emmanuel Adeife enrolled at UL

_I guess a surplus of big men is a good problem to have but with all the talented guards emerging this year there will probably only be one big on the floor most of the time...

Hatch...with Adeife being more of a defensive threat than an offensive minded player, isn't it forseeable that Wallace, Barr, or any other "big" forward that we have on our team will be on the floor at the same time as Adeife based on their ability to create mismatches in the paint providing easy scoring opportunities? That is surely the route I would take...especially when we have problems with our outside shoots falling! To me...the way we rotate players it seems that all of the "contending" big men we have should garnish some opportunity to play...to some degree. Is this concept plausible?

_ Next year Milson is gone and I would be very surprised is Wallace and Johnson are not redshirted. They could use an extra year esp. Johnson and this way all these big men are not Jr.'s and Sr.'s at the same time. If Wallace and Johnson redshirt they will have 1 extra year after Adeife and Barr graduate.

As for the other 2 Juco's, one is a Jr. and the other a Soph. Adeife is the only true center, Barr can play the 4 or 5, and the other 2 are power forwards. One of the 2 other Juco's can also redshirt and that will give us 3 big men to play 2 positions and give us depth for the future.

I really like what the future holds for Cajun basketball. _

_ I agree with you RMex...That's why I put L. Gary ahead of J. Barr. I could very well be wrong but isn't J. Barr's natural position at powerforward? Isn't that the position he was recruited by colleges to play? If so...Wouldn't this create a battle for playing time between him and Gary? Isn't the transfer from UNLV listed as a true center? This is the reason why I've given him the starting nod based on the fact that we don't have one. Please correct me if I'm wrong! _

I saw Barr at the McNeese game. He looks like someone who plays on an NFL DL. He is definitely a center.

I guess I'm just dreaming of Daigle, Bureau, Gradnigo, Milsap, and Gary shooting lights out for the next few years and needing to be on the court, hehe. But in reality the matchups of having two bigs in the game is very plausible.

I love Cajun basketball and all the potential I see has me real excited!

Hello Ragin' Cajuns. I want to preface by saying I'm not here to talk trash or pick a fight on your board at all. I just wanted to share some info on Adeife and how bad he hurt our program this year. I am a UNLV alumnus and die hard Rebel fan/season ticket holder. Our program received some pretty terrible news this season when the ncaa forced our 5 star 7' recruit to red shirt because they were questioning a freshman English class he took in his home country of Cameroon.

As bad as this news was, there was still hope here in Vegas that Adeife could step in and be a dominant force for us. I go to as many practices as my schedule allows, and I was very encouraged by what I saw in his play and how athletic he was. He was strong, could run the floor and keep up with our style of basketball. He really played above the rim too.

But all my high expectations came crashing down to earth when I started to see his attitude appear. He would roll his eyes at everything. I mean the guy started to act like he was Michael Jordan in practice (didn't need any instruction). I think the Beas Hamga ruling by the ncaa made him think that we couldn't live without him. He was warned time and time again by the coaching staff until it all came to a head in our first non-exhibition home game against Montana St.

I read a post in which someone questioned if maybe Coach Kruger had promised him a lot of playing time and that maybe he was justified being so upset. But you have to understand, this was the FIRST GAME OF THE SEASON. It was a game in which he started and played a lot of minutes. Our starters clearly had control of the game and coach wanted to get a look at some kids on the bench and how they would respond to an opposing team making a run. Adeife freaked out. He refused to join the huddle during time outs. He was making crazy gestures and yelling and cursing at teammates and the coaching staff (see link to article below). He was a complete and public embarrassment at that game.

After the game, rather congratulating one of our two seniors on a career night, he refused to join the post game locker room meeting, turned his back on the coach and went to the showers. All this after a game WE WON BY 11 POINTS. He left our coach no choice. He was a cancer on our team and I'm very proud of our coach for making the hard but right decision. I'm also very proud of the 8-3 start we've managed with our tallest starter being 6'8".

Between his problems at Houston and at UNLV, I think your coaching staff has their work cut out for them on this his 4th stop on a disaster of a college career. I hope for your sake and for his that he seeks some anger management counseling and gains some maturity.
