Lon Kruger is the coach, he can determine if he wants an athlete in his program or not. I can assure you it won't be the last time Kruger runs an athlete out of his program. As for UNLV, they are not above dealing with their own problem athletes. In the end, it's really none of UNLV's fans or staff's business, he has been released.
I don't think the UNLV guy was here to start trouble. He was just warning us. That being said, I expect Adeife to toe the line here as this is his last chance. If he does not toe the line he will be run off with no future. As a previous poster said, he also will have competition. One thing about a transfer is that you get to judge how he fits in by the year he sits out. Adeife should be practicing with our team when the spring semester starts in mid January. If he does not toe the line during that time, he does not have to be invited back in the fall. We had a guy named Marquis Cooke go through that a couple of years back. When he did not do what was expected in the spring, he was not here in September. Coach Lee will only keep him if he toes the line. One thing that is encouraging is the guy apparently has ability.

Mike, it sounded more like he was venting because of his disappointment in Adeife and the UNLV season thus far. At this point, it doesn't matter what took place at UNLV, we are not accepting a one individual. He has not even enrolled officially, so he has two semesters two pass before we even need to concern ourselves with any of his past actions.

Oh, you can assure me of that? Can you really assure me of what our coach will or won't do? Wow! That's great. Did you gaze into your crystal ball, CajunT?

First of all, Kruger didn't run him out of the program. Adeife was given multiple warnings and was only dismissed after he publicly embarrassed the coaching staff, the team and himself. He was insubordinate! And he got himself kicked off the team. I was there. I watched the meltdown.

Secondly, you want to pick a fight; tell me it's none of my business; that's fine. I'll go back to my message board. I just thought I would share some inside info with fans that might be as optimistic as I was with a first glance at this guy's potential without knowing his history. (A history that should raise a red flag with any reasonable person.)

But before you go assuming anything about Kruger or Adeife, look at the kid's track record not only at UNLV, but Houston also. Is Tom Penders running kids out of there too?

I came waiving the white flag but it has been made clear by the all knowing, all seeing CajunT that this subject is none of my business. To the rest of you who were kind enough to converse with me politely, thank you for your hospitality.

Good luck to Adeife, good luck to the Ragin' Cajuns.

Look, I really don’t care if you post or not. But when someone comes to a board and post their opinions in more then one thread, then it raises questions as for as I’m concerned. I didn’t accuse Lon Kruger or the UNLV program doing anything wrong in dismissing Adeife, only that it is irrelevant at this point. Coaches make decisions all the time concerning athletes and its no secret that if you have coached in the game long enough that you will dismiss more then one athlete.

BTW, Lon Kruger dismissed reserve center Fess Hawkins at Illinois in 2000 for reportedly failing to attend workout sessions and missing curfews. Again, my comment was not a knock against Kruger.

Thanks for your feedback, best of luck to UNLV.

  6. UL Basketball UNLV's Emmanuel Adeife plans to transfer

UL men's basketball coach Robert Lee addressed his team's need for inside help by signing three post players in November.

Another big man appears to be on the way for the Ragin' Cajuns.

Former UNLV center Emmanuel Adeife told The Daily Advertiser on Friday he plans to enroll at UL for the school's spring semester, which starts Jan. 16.

The 6-foot-10 junior, dismissed from the team at UNLV in November, must sit out until the end of the fall semester next season per NCAA transfer rules. Adeife will be allowed to practice with the Cajuns once his transfer paperwork is completed.

"I feel like it's a good situation for me," said Adeife, who will visit UL's campus in early January. "I'm pretty much set with my decision. Something pretty crazy would have to happen for me not to end up there. I think I can provide an inside presence for the team. I like to be where I'm needed.

  7. UL Basketball Re: Emmanuel Adeife plans on coming to UL. To visit Thurs-Sat

So far, Emmanuel Adeife has liked what he's heard about the UL men's basketball program. Now the former UNLV center is ready to see it firsthand.

On Monday, Adeife said he will visit UL's campus on Thursday and attend the Ragin' Cajuns' game on Saturday against Western Kentucky.

The 6-foot-10 junior said he is "90 to 95 percent" sure he will join the Cajuns, but is also considering South Florida.

"I feel like, for the most part, all the things I'm looking for are there at Louisiana-Lafayette," said Adeife, dismissed from UNLV in November. "All I'm waiting for is to step on campus. I feel good from a verbal standpoint. The only thing left is visual."

In December, Adeife told The Daily Advertiser he planned to enroll at UL for the school's spring semester, which starts Wednesday. Classes begin Jan. 22.

My uncle, in from shreveport, came to the game Saturday and Adeife sat behind him. I believe Adeife said that he will start school on Tuesday.

Adeife stayed in town after the game Saturday. He did not go to South Florida as he was reported to be considering. He is also enrolled. That means nothing however. He actually has to attend a class before the transfer is official. He could wake up in the morning and decide to go elsewhere. If he attends a class, the staff may issue a press release at some later point.

Adeife made it clear that he was transfering here in December when he spoke to me and I posted his interview on the Cajun RedZone. The Daily was looking for news and called the kid to do an interview. He was never considering South Florida, and the interview only muddled what should have been something positive for the program. It was a poor decision by this reporter and he certainly didn't help himself with the basketball staff.

Lets see.....They get most of the info they print now from Ragin Pagin and Red Zone? Does it surprise you that they would make up a story?
