Precast concrete walls are going up at Southside High. Most of the Lemoine subs should be heading to the Tigue.

Could be differnt subs. Are doing precast panels or tilt up at the school?

Looking at the forms they are placing it seems to encompass a large area with plumbing/electrical risers but seems to have a large amounts of loose dirt. Is this going to be covered over or is there additional work needed before the pour can happen? Or is the loose dirt in the view not in the area of the pour?

They are forming up and placing rebar for footings. Once the concrete for the footings is placed then I suspect they will come back and place a slab over the areas between the footings. The footing is what the building is place upon while the slab is basically a floor. This is very common construction technique in commercial construction.

I would hope that they would move the camera a little further away because, once they start erection the structure the only thing we will see is the wall that is going to be atop the footing immediately in front of the camera.

So all the current forming is for footings? I just thought all the non-packed dirt looked odd in between all the areas awaiting a concrete pour. I'm also curious about how deep the footings might be for a structure of this size. From the view it looks like about 3'.

The footings connect pile caps and are used to transfer loads to the deep foundation. I THINK they placed auger cast piles that were about 40 or 50 feet deep.

I have actually been impressed with the amount of workers lately and how much progress theyve made the past two weeks.
