Jay probably got fed up with being overruled by Hud, and you usually run the ship aground when two captains fight for control of the wheel. Hud needs to run the big picture and let Munoz and MD coordinate play selection and basic offensive operations. We can only hope that Hud didn't somehow convince himself that last year's issues had little to do with how poorly he operated the talent. There were other issues... but stupid people can't look at 10 mistakes and not focus on the one that exonerates them. There's a full pot of crap about last year's offense. And 7 out of 10 servings were coaching based.
But no matter the offense you have to be able to complete passes if you're a quarterback. He can't do that at a respectable rate. He routinely overshoots screens and those of less than 10 yards. I just think he has an accuracy problem and we need someone who can complete passes at a high rate. He's not that guy.
LSU has no passing game other than deep wideouts. You can't look at their QB stats and evaluate their QBs. Seriously... LSU barely uses slot receivers or TEs in their passing attack. A lot of Hud UL QB stats are skewed by 2 to 5 yard easy completions that go for "15 yard receptions.". It's pretty easy to have high completion percentages with short tosses. LSU QBs only get to fire it downfield.
Well then Jordan Davis will beat him out and we will have a senior backup who played in the sec with 13 starts instead of a RS freshman who has never taken a snap in a college football game.if he beats out davis then he is better. There is no downside to this. Like I said give the guy a chance. He was in an offense that didn't fit his skill set with a 100k of his own fans cheering when he got hurt.
That's your opinion, good for you. IMO, he brings a more experienced portfolio to a position on our team than needs it most. You can't discount experience at the QB position. JD did not show signs of being ready to lead this team during the spring game. He looked anxious cuz I don't believe the game has slowed down enough for him. Weaver looked more poised. He could be our guy next season, but I see a 1/2 season learning curve for him if he was given the ball this season.
AJ did not play in a O system that fit his skill set. Watch the game he started against Alabama on YouTube....he was harassed nearly every play. He played very well. He had 4-5 balls dropped that could have changed the outcome of the game. He's not the second coming, but he gives us another option at the most important position on the team that provides a critical element we currently don't have....experience.
I believe he will thrive here!
Miles wants 3 yards and a cloud of dust. Why any QB would go there is beyond me. I think AJ can come in and do a good job. He wont have SEC defenses coming after him. Whoever posted about Hud needing to leave the OC alone is spot on. You put people in position to succeed and then let them go. I was amazed at the decline in offense last season but it was apparently NOT Johnsons fault.
Give the kid a chance, if he is ready, he should start. If Davis, et al, cant do whats best for the team, then they are in the wrong place to begin with.
Or give them everything for free.
