An improved defense will be worth at least a couple more wins in this conference. I'd love to see the Cajuns score TDs by the bundle, but have to stop people early on to give these green QBs a chance to develop and win.
QB is not the problem. Davis will run an efficient offense that HUD wants to run. Defense has always been the problem. One of the worst in the country
Everybody figures this. The problem is why is Hud not willing to name the starter now moving forward so the ship is settled and he has time to develop chemistry with his offense? Hud mentioned that he wanted to name a starter in the spring rather than wait it out like he did last year but he seems to be doing the same thing.
I have major concerns about this. If Davis isn't playing well enough to entrench himself as the starting QB, yet went 12-15 for 270 yards and ran for another 50-60 (could be slightly off, but it was something similar) in the last scrimmage...then how awful must our defense be?!!!
Honestly, I think the defense will be OK. My concern with Davis is not talent as it seems he's a really good fit for this offense. My concern is just a lack of experience with him and anybody that would have to back him up if he's injured. We have no depth at QB that is battle tested. We are asking a true freshman to come in and be ready to play if Davis goes down and that's scary, especially for a kid that was not recruited particularly hard. That's why I'm hoping we can maybe catch lightning in a bottle with Dion Ray.
Can we start a betting pool on who will be starting week 1? Odds should be interesting. As donors are we allowed to bet on student athletes?
