Thread: Hudspeth in no hurry to name a starting quarterback

I have major concerns about this. If Davis isn't playing well enough to entrench himself as the starting QB, yet went 12-15 for 270 yards and ran for another 50-60 (could be slightly off, but it was something similar) in the last scrimmage...then how awful must our defense be?!!!

Honestly, I think the defense will be OK. My concern with Davis is not talent as it seems he's a really good fit for this offense. My concern is just a lack of experience with him and anybody that would have to back him up if he's injured. We have no depth at QB that is battle tested. We are asking a true freshman to come in and be ready to play if Davis goes down and that's scary, especially for a kid that was not recruited particularly hard. That's why I'm hoping we can maybe catch lightning in a bottle with Dion Ray.

Can we start a betting pool on who will be starting week 1? Odds should be interesting. As donors are we allowed to bet on student athletes?

Rule in Vegas: If you set the odds, people will bet. Damn the rules.

    Spring ain't over yet.

I can assure you, Dion Ray is not, nor will he ever be the QB! He will have some run packages but he will never be the every down QB... The three deep will be Davis, Weaver and Nixon with Arceneaux needing to learn quick.

And you base your opinion on what?

Cajunfan1 is right. I've been at a couple practices this spring, and it's glaringly obvious he should not be throwing the football. He just is not very good at it. He will definetly should be on the field, just not at the QB position.

Yet he won the accuracy contest. Maybe he's a game day guy kind of like Jake. Of course Jake was always the most accurate passer in practice.
