Yeah, those screens were in bad shape.

Just the ceiling, would make it feel like a smaller building.

Yeah, you are correct. There was about 11K in the dome that night. It would be nice to buy a game like that occassionally.

Actually, no they won't. The biggest thing people are going to notice is the lighting. All of the lights will be LED's and the majority of the lighting will now be directed toward the court. You won't be seeing nearly as much of the stands from tv, etc as you are now. It will have much more of a big time atmosphere.

Phil Ashurst of the Dome will be my guest on BEV today. We're going to talk more about that.

Someone asked if a rendering will be released and I would think yes. But in this case, renderings won't mean much. You'll see the lower level be closer to bowled in and the seats moved closer to the court.

But the real change in this place will come with the lighting.

I think a lot of people won't think it's a big deal until they actually see it. But one of the biggest issues with the Cajundome is lighting-based for basketball. And to create a "light dome" over the court, that darkens the seating areas, is a major atmosphere change for both the fans and the basketball players. I've never enjoyed the lighting in the Cajundome for basketball.

I wish you would ask him about painting the roof: what color will it be, could they include a UL logo, etc.

I just sent an email to G. Davis, but I think you would get a quicker response, lol. I even asked him if it was a matter of cost, would they consider doing a fund raising campaign to cover the costs....

I so totally agree: second only to the antiquated seating, the lighting will have a HUGE impact on the game atmosphere. It will also significantly reduce costs.
