Wouldn't Cypress trees need a lot of water? We don't even have grass on the field to water. I'm thinking they'll only clear out the pines, planted by Tigue, for some very hard reasons (ie create a special set of outfield bleachers in the treehouse design mentioned). I'd think any tree with surface roots would be avoided in athletic complex domains.

It seems my thought on pine trees being short lived is wrong.

Anyone who is talking about getting rid of or even thinning out the Pine Trees has lost their damn minds. Those trees are one of the most beautiful things about The Tigue. You take that away, and you lose a lot of character to our field.

At least a few of those pine tress need to go. They aren't healthy. And it seems like they were planted too close together to thrive.

Personally I hope we don't lose the oak trees in front of the grandstand.

Anyone know how far back UL property goes past the left field fence? What kind of room do we have back there?

I took a quick look on Google Maps. It's pretty easy to make out the property lines. It looks like we've got about 15 yards where the scoreboard is and about 30 at the foul pole. On the other side it seems like there's about 15 yards from the right field wall to the end of the track.

We could have done a much better job planning this complex. There's not much room to grow anywhere. Maybe that was all part of your boy's evil plan to hold down athletics.

not great, but I went on the tax assessor's site, then did a screen shot. Looks more than 15 ft, but not sure.

From the left field corner to the property line is about 60 feet. The closest point is about 40 feet. I'm thinking the people that live there might have something to say about that. Best thing to do is double deck the entire existing grand stand and bleacher section. It could be done in phases. Demolish the original grand stand rebuild with new press box and double deck then do one bleacher section at a time. There is room its just a matter of what gets moved (cajun cooking club, Lourdes park etc) and where.

You have any idea how much room we would need to do some type of treehouse bleechers back there?
And I agree with the earlier post: with all the room we orginally had on that huge parcel of land, we sure seemed to have squeezed too much into one area, land locking our selfs pretty badly.

The Tigue should be built north of Congress, new from the ground up. Where it is now should become the site of an indoor track facility.

All it takes is lots of money.
