From the left field corner to the property line is about 60 feet. The closest point is about 40 feet. I'm thinking the people that live there might have something to say about that. Best thing to do is double deck the entire existing grand stand and bleacher section. It could be done in phases. Demolish the original grand stand rebuild with new press box and double deck then do one bleacher section at a time. There is room its just a matter of what gets moved (cajun cooking club, Lourdes park etc) and where.
You have any idea how much room we would need to do some type of treehouse bleechers back there?
And I agree with the earlier post: with all the room we orginally had on that huge parcel of land, we sure seemed to have squeezed too much into one area, land locking our selfs pretty badly.
The Tigue should be built north of Congress, new from the ground up. Where it is now should become the site of an indoor track facility.
All it takes is lots of money.
The section drawing showed suite levels, concessions, toilets, and suites/press box. The new grandstand will be what looks like 3 times the size of the existing one. This will make sight lines and focal points different and will be a little bit farther from the field.
Store would be on the right side entrance into the grandstands. Trees by ticket office will stay. Upper concourses on first and third base bleachers with possible concessions. 10 suites. Designated handicapped seating spaces in grandstand area also.
Remember that these were only preliminary drawings i saw.
I wish they would build a new Tigue in the parking lot so that when you are at home plate you would look to the outfield and see the elevator shaft that has Cajun Field. You could then bring temporary seating in the outfield when needed. You then take the lot where the Tigue is now and use it for RV parking for Cajun Field.
Learned this in the past year, but most (not all) baseball stadiums face the same direction. The Tigue is totally backwards from this "standard". Look at satellite shots of other college parks too.
