I'm not saying McNeese was a better team but we beat a 2-10 North Texas, a 5-7 MUTS, and 1-11 FIU....we weren't the worst, but we were bad that year.

And glowing about McNeese that year is putting eye shadow on a sow's ___.

You're right; I typed without thinking. 2010 we were 3-9 also; I didn't remember him having two of those years ... but I tend to put bad thoughts out of my mind.

There is no doubt that McNeese has been a pain in the azz to many of us older UL fans. It was particularly frustrating in the 1970's and 80's when McNeese went on an extended winning streak against the Cajuns, several times winning against obviously superior Cajun teams. However, do you realize that UL and McNeese have met on the Football field only once in the last 28 years! Unfortunatley for Cajun fans, on that one occasion once again McNeese came into Cajun Field in 2007 and upset the Cajuns. In reality, that loss was the beginning of the end for Ricky Bustle.

With all of that said, in todays real world, the gap between McNeese and UL is so wide that even a blind man has no problem seeing the difference. McNeese and its fans have no choice but to hang their hat on past successes because their future is so bleak they have nothing to look forward to. They have to look in the rear view mirror to find any meaningful success for their football program. Some McNeese fans, and others, like to make fun of the Sun Belt Conference, but just think how miserable life must be as a McNeese fan when you look at a home schedule that features teams like Prairie View A&M, Arkansas Tech, Nicholls, Abilene Christian, Stephen F. Austin and Lamar. Not to mention that awesome road trip to The University of the Incarnate Word!

Yes Cajun fans, McNeese fans like to hang their hats on the past and there is not much we can do to dispute the success they have had 25-30 years ago. But I for one would not even consider changing places with them. The Cajuns future is now, McNeese States future is in the past!

I was at that game in Lake Charles 28 years ago. Cajuns kicked butt, LC media meltdown over the then USL sweatshirts with the little Cajun dropping a deuce in a McNeese helmet. A great way to be done with a school that has tried on multiple fronts to hold us back. But no.....had to play those maggots again.

I know it's easy pickings financially for UL, and win or lose, Cajuns aren't traveling to LC for football. Why the hell play them where they make serious money? They are struggling budget wise. Let them sink like the turds they are.
