Nebraska vs Cal State Fullerton on ESPN right now. Cal State Fullerton decides they want to be known as Fullerton. So, they put an "F" on their caps and jerseys and ESPN calls them Fullerton, not Cal State Fullerton which they have gone by for years. BTW, Fresno State is Cal State Fresno, but prefers the Fresno State reference. No problem. Yet they refuse to call us Louisiana.

It's because none of those references are threatening to the California powers that be...sad but true.

If ya'll will just consistently start referring to them as UL-Red Stick, and ignoring their preferred monicker, it'll make their blood boil hot enough to cook crawfish. Hell, they might try to get some law passed in the legislature making UL-Red Stick illegal, at which point you will know you've won. Works for us Dawgs in Mis'sip'i. TSUN (known to some as Ol' Miss) is stuck with their new name, and they hate it like hell. But we ain't lettin' 'em go, and every time they complain, it just underscores their pseudo-aristocratic attitude, something they have in common with UL-Red Stick. I'd love to see ya'll do that, and I won't even take any credit for coming up with it. Seriously.

I live in MS, am an MSU guy and I can attest to what BaldDawg is professing. I will now, henceforth, call that school in Red Stick, UL-RedStick. Done.

Hope it catches on around here. Whenever I refer to that school, I'll say "UL-Red Stick." When they say, "Who?" I'll say "The fighting tigers. UL-Red Stick." When they say, "That's not their name," I'll say, "yes it is. The Ragin' Cajuns are Louisiana, and the Fightin' Tigers are UL-Red Stick."

No need to argue about the name any more. We should've done this sooner.

UL-Monroe will henceforth be referred to as "Louisiana Tech at Monroe." Same reason. Done.

I would argue that UL-Monroe is enough of an insult
