It would not surprise me if ESPN tells those announcers " never use Louisiana you can say Louisiana-Lafayette or Lafayette, but if you start using Louisiana they will be consequences."

Wouldn't surprise me one bit. They probably dropping the hammer down on the ESPN regional announcer as we speak.

Actually, the announcers called us LOUISIANA the entire game with only a couple of exeptions of using Louisiana Lafayette. But, all of their graphics say UL Lafayette. How they can see LOUISIANA everywhere and still not use LOUISIANA is beyond me. And, you know all of the information our SID feeds them has UL and LOUISIANA. Cal State Fullerton suddenly decides they want to be called Fullerton, and ESPN immediately calls them that, yet refuses to refer to us as LOUISIANA.

LSU stripped as much as possible from UNO on their way out the system. Research wise I am talking about.

Ummmm, I know all of that already, it was just a joke. I was gonna add more to that to make it more obvious, but got caught up in the game last night. Nothing will ever make them happy.

For the softball regional and super regional it almost took an act of congress to call us Louisiana. The Baseball announcers were using it all game long. It was nice to hear them using it.

Hey Cajuns, CONGRATS on games yesterday. Hope y'all send state back to StarkVegas in a blowout.
Respectfully, I am a little curious as to why y'all insist on being called "Louisiana" for sports. Your University really doesn't represent the entire state... in fact, (if your honest) you really don't want to. Besides New Orleans, y'all often look down on NW La, NE La, CENLA, BTR. The only area that y'all really care about is Acadiana, so why isn't that reflected in the name of your Institution/sports? The University of Acadiana would be much more unique than just "Louisiana" & there would be no more name controversy, especially with the sports media.

To some extent your observation shows the success (in creating perception) of in-state opponents and how they want UL to be perceived.

The truth is somewhat different.

Since 1939 UL has been the 2nd largest public University in Louisiana.

They can't box UL in.
