Pardon my error, after reflecting on it, it was the Tulane game that was blacked out on ESPN 3 for me. I believe that was due to the fact that the game aired on CST (Cox channel 37) if I remember correctly.

Actually, Tulane was KLAF too. Funny enough, I was at the Tulane game and pulled it up on WatchESPN app on my phone. That's the only reason I know that one wasn't blacked out (at least for me). It was a little delayed, but I was able to catch some replays from my seat

I think Troy this weekend was the only CST game we've had

You won't get blacked out on a cellular network, but once you connect to wifi in a blacked out area, you lose it.

Hmm, that's a little surprising considering I'm still logged into my Cox account to gain access to the programming. Very possible though.

    ..The more you know...

I had zero problems on ESPN III in NOLA, are you in Lafayette with Cox?

Yeah I'm in Lafayette. I'm sure they dont black out the KLAF games for NOLA since you arent in the broadcast region. CST may be a different story

Two separate issues, being a "cox customer" gives you access to the watchespn app. Don't know all of the legal jargon but it has to do with licensing. Being in the blacked out area has to do with your IP address.

Correct. If you are in the CST viewing area and you can watch the game on cable then it will be blacked out on ESPN 3. I live in Houston and the games are not shown in our area on cable therefore it is not blacked out on ESPN3.

The blackout does not go by your COX login.. it goes by the IP address that it is using to connect to the internet

It just depends.. during football season, the game doesn;t necessarily have to be "on cable" for it to be blacked out on ESPN. There are so many rules and agreements that are in place that there is no clear cut "answer" as to what is blacked out and why. I work for one of the major cable players in the state, so take my answer for what it is worth.
