Thread: Alabama Series Fan Advisory

  1. Default Re: Alabama Series Fan Advisory

So, I'm a season ticket holder, I got another set of tickets for the series for the wife. Wondering if I will have any problems showing only one ticket to park (with the two of us in the car), as hers will be will call. I suppose not, but any thoughts?

Hasn't been a problem for me in the past. They just want to know if you have a ticket. There have also been similar conflicts for softball. It really isn't a big deal. Show your ticket when you pull in. Note exactly a big burden. I personally like it as it just adds a little extra flair to the weekend. I'm sure our visitors will get a kick out of it and if they have to pay to park they won't realize that it is out of the norm anyway.

Will students be able to use their IDs for the series?

Use of athletic facilities to fill athleic coffers or general fund coffers?

    I have wondered for years.

    Mid Winter Rodeo
    Lafayette Dealers Auto show
    Cajun Heartland Fair
    etc. ...

I guarantee you will not see any events like that on campus at ANY University that we want to be associated with on the same weekend that there is a University sporting event scheduled for the same venue.

It has nothing to do with whining. It has to do with getting your priorities straight.
Tell me another school that we want to be associated with that celebrates Mardi Gras in the same fashion that Lafayette does?

----There was a time when we had gotten together to have a fun fest of some kind and even had a B B Que deal to raise money for athletics---Too bad that the Athletic Dept doesn't have the entire Mardi Gras deal!!! I remember talking to HUD and brought up the $10 parking and he saw the value of the same type of revenue for UL games --Can you say RCAF????? Now you need I think $250 to park!!!

My point was that inconveniencing your fans has a huge negative impact on your long term future bottom line. Plus, I would be willing to bet that exactly zero of the funds derived from Mardi Gras, or the Fair, or the car show goes to athletics.

Mardi Gras cost us a home NIT game one year, and caused the cancellation of the Basketball tournament we used to have every December.
UMMMMMMMM!! I like Cake! You bake, I buy!

Mobile does a good job of parading and partying, but probably none go by the university or athletic complex like in Lafayette.
