Hopefully this situation does not impact the basketball crowd as that will be senior day. That will be the last home game for Bryant Mbamalu and Elridge Moore. Those two guys have represented the university with nothing but class since they arrived here and deserve to have folks present to give them a nice sendoff.
    And Braylon Lazare.

Just excuse the hell out of me. I just happen to think that it is more important to cater to people who are on campus for UL athletics than it is to cater to the Lafayette Mardi Gras Association, or the Mid Winter Fair association, or the Lafayette Parish Automobile dealers association.

I guarantee you will not see any events like that on campus at ANY University that we want to be associated with on the same weekend that there is a University sporting event scheduled for the same venue.

It has nothing to do with whining. It has to do with getting your priorities straight.

Plenty of room for both, just needs to be rearranged a little.

They are actually the same. The revenue generated by these events puts plenty of money into the coffers, and that's why they continue to do them.

Probably has more to do with making money for UL than anything else!

We have a winner. There is more to life than being an old crone...yelling at people to get off your UL lawn with their beads and floats.

If this was a new thing...I could see a little difficulty in dealing with this...but my god...how long has this thing been going at Cajun Field? I'm 32 going on 33...I cannot remember a year when the major Lafayette parades didn't end at Cajun Field in addition to the Mardi Gras fair being there also. I even remember hearing multiple times Jay Walker calling games where he has to shout over the cops that signal the start of the parade...we aren't reinventing any wheels here. This is ho hum...time to do this again type of stuff.

Wait, I have an idea... why don't we have a bingo or maybe a cake sale to raise money.

My point was that inconveniencing your fans has a huge negative impact on your long term future bottom line. Plus, I would be willing to bet that exactly zero of the funds derived from Mardi Gras, or the Fair, or the car show goes to athletics.

Mardi Gras cost us a home NIT game one year, and caused the cancellation of the Basketball tournament we used to have every December.

For several decades we have been having Mardi Gras at Cajun Field...it has not held us back one bit. Your old grudges are your own.

    Don't forget Braylon Lazare!!

Dude doesn't play much, but when he does, he hustles. A lot of high energy, high character guys in this class. They deserve a good send-off.
