Thread: At least 2 Former Cajuns Cut today

  1. Default At least 2 Former Cajuns Cut today

D'Anthony Baptist OL for the Steelers and
Codian Hagans DL for the Cardinels were both cut today from NFL rosters.

Make it 3 - Brett Baer just cut by Rams.

Hope they can catch on with another team or at least make the practice squad.

  4. Default Re: At least 2 Former Cajuns Cut today

Beware as the final cuts come---but with them remember some teams' junk is truly other teams' treasures!!! OK says the Panthers to the Saints--We will take Jake!!! Well I think he went from the Saints to the Panthers!!!

IIRC, Jake went as a free agent not as a casualty of roster cuts.

Yeah. It's not that the Saints DIDN'T want Jake and cut him, they just didn't want him as more than a backup because they had big money sunk into Brooks and Carolina was willing to pay more than everybody else. The wisdom or lack thereof of the Haslett regime is now, thankfully, relegated to the history books.

This doesn't make sense. Someone's gotta pick him up...

Well, I think it made sense that the Rams cut him. They're young and stacked at both punter and kicker. That said, I'd expect him to catch on somewhere, if not on someone's 53-man roster during the season (possibly as a mid-season replacement similar to how the Saints found Garrett Hartley in October), then in somebody else's camp next year. I wouldn't expect him to make a practice squad because NFL teams generally don't use those few slots for special teams players, but if he wants to keep playing, he'll have another opportunity somewhere.

He kicked a 60 yarder and averaged 48 yards a punt on 6 attempts. I'm pretty sure someone has a worse partner than Brett Baer.
