Thread: This Super Regional is ridiculous

  1. Default Re: This Super Regional is ridiculous

IF you have an undefeated record AND the #1 RPI in the COUNTRY, then proceed to lose 4 games in conference and are penalized greatly for it, then your conference is underrated.

Lets wait and see how the Cajuns place in this tournament, then it will be clear exactly where we should have been seeded. So far we have proven that we are at least in the top 16. After tonight we can argue top 8. I say we show them on the field how far off the seedings were. Forget the formulas, the proof is waiting for us in Oklahoma. Wins at this vinue will speak louder than all the discussions we can have.

There is a reason AZ had never lost a SR game at home before.

    "AT HOME"

UL has never had that chance.

The goal of this program is to win a WCWS, not get to it. Having said that, the Cajuns are being penalized by being forced to play on the road to a top four program, and having to beat them 2 iof 3 at their place. Given the proper seeding we might be playing Texas, Hoftra, or UCF this week end for a best of three at Lamson Park.

With the proper seeding, or one closer to what we think is proper the UL fan base might have been at Lamson Park last night giving this team the love it has earned. Win today and it won't matter we will have one less elite program to beat in Oklahoma City, but that still does not make it right.

I understand we have only the "here and now", but "seeding" is a reward for past accomplishment. And, it isn't like a ranking that has no meaning. Just to make a gross exaggeration... if we were supposedly a #4 seed and were given a #14, it isn't about going out with a chip on your shoulder and "proving" they overlooked your greatness. You are now stuck playing someone at their venue... someone that's extremely good. You could lose, and still have deserved the better seeding.

There's a reason for seeding correctly. You can't just double and triple benefit the PAC10 and the SEC over and over and call this postseason seeding "correct". UL is now in the "entitled to a higher seed" despite our conference association. We run rule a load of these underperforming programs during that 50 plus win season, and the only time we're validated by the "softball elites" is when they are staring down the barrels of our bats.

So if we were hypothetically seeded 14 when we should have been seeded 4. Then all teams from 4 on down were seeded at least one spot too high. When they match up with the 14 seed during the tournement they are really playing a 4 seed. They are meeting a powerhouse way earilier in the tourney than they should have. They might have been unfairly given home field advantage but they are playing a way stronger team than they should have if the seedings were correct. Both teams have logit grips. But only after they win the game. If you get beat then you got beat by a team that should have been seeded higher than you. Sorry I may be rambaling but my point is, hindsight will tell the tale on where we should have been seeded.

I may be wrong but I don't think anyone said UL should be seeded #4 other wise you are right.

I would have settled for an #8 seed so the Super Regional could be on the UL Campus.

Would you rather be playing a team that was seeded too high or one that was seeded too low ?

I would rather be playing a team that was seeded too high, but I don't think ASU is seeded too high.

I know they would rather be playing a team that was seeded too high

I think they have been ranked too high all year and we have been ranked too low all year. Right now I would rather be us than them.
