The answer is YES, it does matter. With last year's schedule, we could have gone undefeated...and even beaten two baseball teams for lagniappe...and we STILL would not have had the RPI ranking to be a #1 seed and, thereby, host.

I'm pretty sure he was referring to the baseball team with that comment.

Then he is correct. It DOESN'T matter. :-)

Maybe the selection committee should have checked with Foote instead of Farmer. He seems to have a far more basic under standing of softball than anybody on that committee.

The committee did not arbitrarily move us down a couple of spots. I fully understand why Missouri was moved ahead of the Cajuns ... I just do not agree with it. You need to look at the teams that would have been vying for those last few #1 seeds. You also need to understand that there was a large gap between the Cajuns and the #16 spot ... and another significant gap with the #18 -> #20 spots.

Looking at the teams and the way the committee made their selections, I think the Cajuns at a #14 RPI rank would have been a #15 seed ... ahead of Washington at #16.

There is a big difference between taking a team that has a Top 16 RPI and not making them a #1 seed and seeding a team a few positions down from their RPI. No way do I think the Cajuns at #14 would have fallen out of the Top 16 seedings. That would have required Washington (substantially weaker RPI ... remember the committee also sees the RPI numbers, not just the rankings) and someone like Florida State to pass them. Florida State being left out made complete sense because they did not have the resume and finished weak.

Wish I could agree with you. Past treatment of the Cajuns STILL makes me think otherwise.

    Exactly!

IF you have an undefeated record AND the #1 RPI in the COUNTRY, then proceed to lose 4 games in conference and are penalized greatly for it, then your conference is underrated.

Lets wait and see how the Cajuns place in this tournament, then it will be clear exactly where we should have been seeded. So far we have proven that we are at least in the top 16. After tonight we can argue top 8. I say we show them on the field how far off the seedings were. Forget the formulas, the proof is waiting for us in Oklahoma. Wins at this vinue will speak louder than all the discussions we can have.

There is a reason AZ had never lost a SR game at home before.

    "AT HOME"

UL has never had that chance.

The goal of this program is to win a WCWS, not get to it. Having said that, the Cajuns are being penalized by being forced to play on the road to a top four program, and having to beat them 2 iof 3 at their place. Given the proper seeding we might be playing Texas, Hoftra, or UCF this week end for a best of three at Lamson Park.

With the proper seeding, or one closer to what we think is proper the UL fan base might have been at Lamson Park last night giving this team the love it has earned. Win today and it won't matter we will have one less elite program to beat in Oklahoma City, but that still does not make it right.
