I understand we have only the "here and now", but "seeding" is a reward for past accomplishment. And, it isn't like a ranking that has no meaning. Just to make a gross exaggeration... if we were supposedly a #4 seed and were given a #14, it isn't about going out with a chip on your shoulder and "proving" they overlooked your greatness. You are now stuck playing someone at their venue... someone that's extremely good. You could lose, and still have deserved the better seeding.
There's a reason for seeding correctly. You can't just double and triple benefit the PAC10 and the SEC over and over and call this postseason seeding "correct". UL is now in the "entitled to a higher seed" despite our conference association. We run rule a load of these underperforming programs during that 50 plus win season, and the only time we're validated by the "softball elites" is when they are staring down the barrels of our bats.
