She clearly left early, maybe she returned I could not see for sure but she left a good bit early if she did not return. This is not the first time this year she got caught leaving early. The coach should be giving her a verbal at third base, like Leave.

Stevie P was animate she did not leave early. He said from where he was broadcasting he had straight line sight from his stance through third base to the outfielder.

She must have come back, with the ump seeing what you saw.

Two plays lost that game. Error at shortstop, and Ashely losing a challenge to a home run hitter in a difficult moment by putting the pitch where it if hit was going to go well. We can all guess what happens if Smith gets home, and if the call was accurate?

We scored seven runs against this pitcher in thirty-one innings of play. She has our number, we need to adjust to her. She is willing to walk people as she missed the outside corner often, and gave up five base on ball walks. She never caved by coming in after the home run. USA never threw to second on stolen bases. They were focused with a plan. Congratulations on their win. I am not a happy camper but the umpires did not beat us.

Mike I have been waiting for that to come up. The televison showed only one version, and no other version after the inning break when they came back. If there is a version showing with her being on the bag, that version was not on television. After leaving third base the camera moved up a little towards left center field, and you cannot see her getting back to the base. Regardless that is not why we lost the game. No shortstop error on an easy play which should have gone to first instead of the hard play at second, and they don't get a three run homer. With a one run lead you probably do not challenge their clutch hitter with two on base and two outs.

I understand the E was given to Nerissa on that play, but there was no reason Paige should have missed that ball. I don't know if there was some sort of miscommunication between SS and 2B, but that was a very catchable toss.

FYI.... USA's Pitcher, Hannah Campbell, has a twin sister that plays at UAB. They are in the Knoxville Regional. Just something to think about.
