_ I've heard a lot of negativity surrounding the new bats, however, I think after the initial shock of not seeing as many homeruns wears off it will be a good thing for college baseball. _

I talked to a few players from UL, Southeastern, LSU, & Bama over the holidays and they all said the same thing; Better than wood, not as big of sweet spot as aluminum. They use wood all summer long so its not going to be a big change for the players maybe just the college fans. It makes me wonder if the pitchers are going to start pitching inside again.

ToLame has 2 of the three starting pitchers returning and the freshman from Covington should get his innings as the season progresses. Last year it was their bullpen that didn't perform well. They also lost their pitching coach to Houston and that will be an adjustment. In addition, they played 5/6 freshmen most every game and the only real loss is Segedin @ third. They should be better but they don't have much depth.

_ Baseball America just released its preseason poll.

LSU comes in at 22
Tulane comes in at 25
No UL

I predict that UL will be ranked ahead of both of these teams at year end !!!!!

Same here, a lot of negativity surrounding new bats. I'm sure that will decrease once the players become more familiar with them. I'm not sure about the final order, but I expect all three teams to make post-season play.

Bicky, gotta jump in here. LSUULFAN is a quality guy. Certainly a grad of LSU... but he has season tickets to all UL sports... and attends most when they dont conflict with LSU..

Buddy there are alot of trolls out there....LSUUL fan aint one of em...

I predict another SBC title. It's coming. Tony was off track for a couple of years. But, as good coaches do, he brought it back to the high level we are used too. I think he has the right coaches in place, the recruits are rolling in, the fanbase is energized. February 18th it kicks off. Hopefully by then Basketball will have the whole Sunbelt filling up their huggies with the Cajuns rolling into the SBC tourney red hot, Coach Hud bringing in the best recruiting class probably in UL football history, and Softball doing what Softabll does....win....a lot. Proud to be a Cajun right now.

That seemed to be the theme of a small article in the DA this morning regarding this issue. I think the larger schools that have relied on the long ball realize they may struggle more or at least not put up the numbers they have in the past and the fans will react negatively since they have grown used to offensive explosions. But I think the baseball purists will welcome a return to small ball and the emphasis on good fundamentals and infield play.

I have read his comments in the past and have never had a problem with any of them. I consider him one of us...even though it is on a part time basis.

The bats probably won't hurt us as much as other teams since we play small ball anyway. The "gorilla ball" teams won't like it.
