While I agree, if you aren't ready to commit because you can't choose between team A and team B; then don't commit just because you think it's what the coach wants to hear!
That said, as we are reminded every year, we are talking about 18 year olds! Many of them don't know what they want, and don't know how to handle the pressures of being recruited. Kind of like early dating years - wow, I had a great time with the blond last night - I'm never even going to LOOK at another - - then along comes the beautiful brunnette!![]()
Hell most of'em don't even know what they want to be when they grow up. Thats only 3 or 4 years away!
Man why are you all focusing on one guy... This article had me standing in my chair singing Fight On Cajuns........
"Griffin earned prep All-America honors for a team that was the mythical national champion by several organizations. Harris, a former Kentucky commitment, is regarded as one of the nation's top running backs. Quave and Hunter are ranked among the top 100 players in the country at their respective positions."
"According to Scout.com, Harris had offers from UL, Florida State, Kentucky, Louisville, Memphis, Mississippi State, Southern Miss and Tennessee"
"Jackson said Memphis and South Carolina State offered, while he received interest from Auburn"
"Southern Miss, Tulsa, Houston, Memphis, Louisiana Tech, ULM, Nicholls State, Southern, Grambling and Alabama State offered. LSU, Alabama, Mississippi State and Texas also recruited him.It was a great situation," Alsander said of UL"
Are you kidding me???? Is this UL???? This is what I have been screaming for years and years and its happening....
Hud said if I get them here they ain't leaving without committing (paraphrasing of course)... Dude aint lying.....
Finally we are on our way.... I am looking forward to football this year but just think in 3 years or so we several classes like this....![]()
Excellent points. We have never secured this many pledges this early in the recruiting game. We have also rarely gone toe to toe with CUSA/SEC schools in the past 10 years. What I like is that we have viable fall back positions if someone says no. This NEVER happens! Guys like Joe Price, who is not even being offered, would be have been a star recruit on most of Bustles classes. This is an exciting time for our football team and us fans!!

@Shof: You're right. If you're not completely sure, why say anything? Sometimes recruits feel pressured to stay what they think reporters want to hear. That's why I'm always clear about my intentions. If you're committed - I first check that they've committed - then tell me why. If not, that's fine, too. Rather not waste each other's time.

Josh, my experince with Alsander was the same as yours. He text me he was on the road but had committed. We exchanged a few text after that....comments on his visit and agreed we would talk after lunch on the phone. Didn't hear from him so I called him later Sunday afternoon, and he didn't answer....I left him a message and sent him a text last night. He has returned any phone calls to you, me or the Adovocate. I listed him as a UL commitment on Scout., but I'm not going to post a story on him until this matter is clarified.
But I don't think he lied to either of us when he stated that he committed. It's clear Louisana Tech as put a lot of pressure on him and have used the Rivals site to help.
Similar tatics have been used with Bryson Abraham as well.
Lies, changed minds and pressure. We all remember names such as Frank Scelfo, Urban Meyer and don't forget Brett Favre that said and did one thing and several hours, days and months later make a complete U-turn. You can call it lies, changed minds or succumbing to the pressure, but these are ADULTS with goals and aspirations.
Young recruits are just that sometimes immature and being pulled in many directions by entities that have recognized their talents and are willing to bid for those abilities.
