My wife, daughter and I went to NO to see the game. Have a granddaughter on the dance team at Acadiana. The announce crowd was 50K+........The Franklington and Karr game was great also. Drove back after the game and arrived home about 3:00AM. Didn't have to listen to JP but the PA system in the dome is nickle an dime. Can't understand a damn thing said....all in all had a great time. Brees was in attendance for the last two games. Got to chat a little bit with him. Talked some about the health of the team going into the finial stretch. He said that it will take a couple of games to get Bush and Thomas in game shape. But they are 100%......

_ you did have an alternative. unfortunately for you, you were ignorant of that fact. by the way, you can't afford to purchase 5 hours of radio air time (3-sat. & 2 on sun.) on weekends as he has been doing during the last several football seasons and have a following of only a handful of listeners. again, just change the station if that is your choice. but, give me the choice to listen to him if i choose to do so. _

Actually, since I was traveling and had to listen to the online feed, I did not have an alternative. Learn the facts before you start calling people names. As for the weekend show, I don't care what he says on that show. And if there are enough people who find that garbage entertaining then more power to him. BUT, broadcasting a game is not the time to act like an idiot. Your job is to call the game for the people listening on the radio who can't see the game. There's a difference. Perhaps that's difficult for you to understand but, I guess that's why you're a big fan of the weekend show. And, sorry but you will no longer have the choice to listen to his antics for game broadcasts because he doesn't have a clue how to do it.

Well, I have a different opinion of his Saturday morning show. This guy needs to be OFF the air and 1420 needs to take action before it gets to bad. I do not listen to his show regularly. I actually only listened to it because 1420 was on my radio when I got in my car that Saturday morning (two Saturdays ago). I got to hear this imbecile be completely disrespectful to our new football coach who had yet to be named. He went on a 5-10 minute rant about how 'hot' Mark Hudspeth's wife was and that someone sent him a picture and if that was his wife, 'Hudspeth was really bringing the wood'. Get this moron off the air. You have a professional man bringing his wife and 3 kids to become a part of this community and you have that trash on the air. I was completely disgusted and embarrassed. You can tell me not to listen to him, but there is no place for that around here.

I know some of you know this, but he was kicked out the broad-cast booth during the STM vs Acadiana game. Got into a big show-down with someone. When he was calling for someone to bring him his cell phone he needed it to finish the broad-cast on the side line. He set up near the end zone. He calls a play and if you can understand it you are better than me. Than he sells a motor-cycle, car, hamberger or tells you to visit someone that has a great product while the next play is being run and repeats it several times.......might be a great guy but a play caller for football or softball, I think not....

This may have been discussed but I cant find it. The only information I find regarding the Bitterman thing (i.e. not calling anymore games, etc) is in the West Monroe/Acadiana thread. I heard callers to jay's show asking and jay simply referring them to station managment. So could someone enlighten me as to what happened?

In another post I stated that he was kicked out the media booth during the STM vs. Acadiana game for getting into a showdown with someone. He asked someone to bring him his cell phone over the radio which I assume they did. He was later seen durning the game in the end-zone calling the game over his cell.......he is not a radio voice and should not call games.

This sounds like your unqualified opinion. What is a radio voice? Should a radio personality be able to speak clearly, annunciate properly, have proper grammar, or captivate an audience. Your choice. There is a reason James P. Bitterman has been on the air for so long. You could put a dog on the radio barking 24/7, if he draws a big enough audience, it will not matter one bit if the dog doesn't have a radio voice, he will stay on the air.

Your also forgetting where we live apparently. We are cajun people. We are not the best speakers in the world. I.E. The Waterboy. It is not our strong suit. While we are not big jibbering idiots like the world makes us out to be, we are not very good at orating. But we are personable. I understand you want to listen to the game to follow it. That seems like a reasonable request. I know myself and a bunch of other people who have zero tie to Acadiana and could not care less whether we hear the game clearly, the only reason I am tuning in is to listen to the crazy dude on the other end rant and jabber on about bringing the wood. So, you see we have a problem there. On one hand, we have a guy who can't really call the game well, but puts on an entertaining enough show that his listenership does not suffer, but actually thrives from it. Trust me, the reasons he was taken off the air have nothing to do with his ability to call the game, and more to do with his actions at the STM game. He will back on the air next year.

So I understand your frustration, but when looking at the situation through the microscope you cannot see the big picture. So until people are no longer entertained with Mr. Bitter and the way he calls the Acadiana games....put on your big boy pants...and deal with it.

I like your reasoning. Kinda how we should look at our "friends" to the east. Put our big boy pants on .....and deal with it.
