Cool. Being it's our first time I'll try to get seats close to the action.
You have any recommendations for food joints in the area? We'll have a 10 and 14 year old in tow. Plan on walking over from the Holiday Inn Express on the other side of the convention center. Let us know about any pre-game activities. I think I saw the BOPster will be out and about.
ermas Southwest....it may be spelled irmas....it is a really good Mexican joint, it is a little pricey, but very good. They also have the Inn at The Ballpark which is nice as well.
Irma's is good, and is only a few blocks north and west of Minute Maid. You are definitely right about it being pricey. A large group of us went over there for lunch last summer. I thought something was a little odd when there was no menu, meaning no prices, only the waiter telling you what they were offering that day. A very good stuffed chicken breast, iced tea, and ~$25 later, we headed back to the office. I don't mind paying for good food, but $25 for lunch is a bit out of hand.
Beau...
Coming from that Holiday Inn, I don't know much that you'll find much on your way to the park, without going a bit out of your way. You'll be just a few blocks from Discovery Green and then it's a straight shot to the park. We'll be hanging out at the B.U.S., which is just across the street from MM, prior to the game. I think its more of a bar, so the kids may or may not be allowed in. Next door to there is Home Plate Bar and Grill, but that gets pretty packed before games, so get there early. HP B&G is alright, decent beer selection and decent pub/bar type of food...nothing special.
You could also Google 'Shops at Houston Center'. It would be out of your way but still walkable...there are several places to eat in that little area. The only thing I'm not sure of is what you'll find on a weekend night. Downtown Houston is almost like a ghost town, at least compared to during a weekday, in the evenings and on weekends. So, I'm not sure who much of the Houston Center will be active.
Lucky's Pub has pretty good food, but is located on the other side of US 59. It's only about 4 blocks from MM. We held the RCAF tour there in April.
That's about all I can come up with right now.
looks like Wolf will pitch the friday game against the astros assuming the pitching rotation doesnt get disrupted b/c of injuries or something. so i would avoid that game if i were you.
I know this has been talked about in a couple of other threads, but I wanted to get a roll call on who's coming to the game.

Astros vs. Brewers
6:05 PM
There will be some Cajun fans from the Houston Ragin' Cajun Club sitting in Sections 409-411.
We'll also be across the street at the BUS starting at 4:00.
Wear some UL gear and we'll see you there!
I, USL, 1968 along with wife and daughter, USL, 1991, have plans to attend.
I, Dr. Wife, daughter, and 2 nieces we're influencing the Ragin' Cajun way.
Looking forward to the trip.
