I know that it is always a good feeling not letting anybody be subjected to having to go to Tech---but why be happy with players that they wanted----oh the goooooood ole days!!!!!

Brandon Riley came in this weekend he was the third recruit with Brown and Farrington. All three really liked the campus and were hosted by La'Ryan, Colby and Raymone. The current players had good comments about the recruits and if they are committing on Wednesday they must of made a good impression for Coach Marlin and UL.
Playin: Riley's name was mentioned on the second page. Just wanted to point that out.
JP what is your opinion or others in the know of the 3 new players compared to the 2 players we had committed earlier. I am curious because the new guys were not offered scholarships but grant-in-aid and I am also curious why. According to rivals they were not offered by other programs.
Parrott: I saw you mentioned him but everyone kept asking who he third recruit was that came in so I just confirmed for them that Riley was actually here this weekend. So if those three sign and Perez decideds to come does that fill all our scholorships. How many scholorships are availabe?

J-TownCajun, I can only give you what I've been told by those that have watched Farrington and Brown in HS or JC. I haven't spoken to anyone concerning the point guard.
Brown is a very athletic #2 guard with good length. He is not an exceptional shooter from the parameter, but is more of a slasher that loves to play in an up-tempo style offense. He is also considered to be a very good defender.
Farrington is still a bit raw offensively, similar to Colby Batiste. He is very athletic, can run the floor very well and is a good shot blocker. Both are considered solid mid-major prospects.
It is my understanding that both of these athletes will sign a letter-of-intent, not grant & aids. They signed grant & aids with Louisiana Tech, which are not binding.
Sun Belt is a 3 guard league. I'm not surprised that we have offered another PG, because Daigle is better at the #2. Having a true PG that is a threat from the parameter is valuable to any offense. Andrews is not a scoring threat from the parameter right now and could use another year of coming off the bench.
Marlin is going to push the ball up the floor and he will play 3 guards alot this fall.
No problem, playin. Just didn't know if you saw the previous post. Thank you for the confirmation.
Adding to what T mentioned:
Brown is an athletic, lefty off-guard who is at his best slashing to the basket because of his streaky outside shot. Brings a lot of energy on both ends of the court.
Farrington runs the floor well for a big man. While still raw offensively, he is long and can score in transition and rebound and defend.
Riley is a point guard with a scorer's mentality. A strong free-throw shooter and perimeter player, he has the ability to get the ball up and down the floor quickly, although he lacks great size.
(Keep in mind while I've been told by multiple sources that he has committed, I'm still waiting to hear back from Riley and his JUCO coach.)
All three appear to be a perfect fit for what Marlin wants to do offensively and defensively.
A point guard not named Willie Lago or Ryan McCoy excites me.
I also think with the signing of some juco guys. Coach is trying to balance our classes out a little bit. Having as many seniors as we have is pretty scary. Also Boomer, we don't know who would have been interested in these guys if they did not "sign" early. Josh averaged 18ppg in one of the best juco leagues in the country.
