Just three years into the relaunch of its basketball program, USC Salkehatchie has an All-American to call its own.

Indians sophomore Brandon Riley was recently named to the National Junior College Athletic Association’s (NJCAA) Division I All-American team for his play during the 2009-10 season.

Riley, a 6-2 guard, received the honor after being named Region X’s Player of the Year at the conference’s banquet in March. The Eatonton, Ga. native led the Indians by averaging 19.1 points per game this season. He averaged 24.5 points, four rebounds and two assists in region play.

“Brandon is a great player,” said USC Salkehatchie head coach Travis Garrett. “He will be a great find for his next coach. It is great to watch him play during a game.
He understands the game and picks things up easily. He had a great year and he will be missed next season. I love it when our kids do great things and Brandon deserves this honor."

We need Gradnigo, Gary and Bureau with their height to crash the boards when the other is shooting.

Looked up Riley stats at USC Salk appears to be a good scorer but also noted his turnover rate was 3.6 to assist of 1.4. So I am guessing he is more like a Diagle type guard. Looks like we getting what Marlin said a bunch of scorers. Like I posted earlier from what the players said they liked the three recruits who came in. Will he bring them all together this summer to learn the new offense and have them see his style. I know he can't coach them but there is something to be said for having them together for those 6 weeks.

Raymone Andrews is a point guard we have right now that has a good assist to turnover ratio and he is also very good defensively. However he is not an offensive threat. That is why Riley was brought in.

Most of these guys seem like they are recruits of Coach Johnson while at Tech. Just wondering if Coach Marlin is involved yet in recruiting or is he going to rely mostly on Johnson to do all recruiting.

The Daily Advertiser is reporting that Centenary G David Perez has committed to Cajuns. Just told me that he will sign Wednesday.

Showing my ignorance of basketball recruiting, isn't Perez a nice get? I've seen him mentioned around RP for a few weeks.. Can someone elaborate?
