Hammer, I take it you are not surprised at the reaction our fans at the game had to the ULM folks. I am sure they were thrilled at the way last night turned out. I would be shocked if they were able to do that two nights in a row. While it was disappointing last night, we still have won 6 of 9 against them since they started playing SBC basketball.
We really need to find a way to separate ourselves from that institution. If we ever have an opportunity to join a conference that does not include them, we should jump at the chance. If I'm not mistaken, we promised to support their membership in the SBC if they would adopt the ULM name. I absolutely hate the fact that LSU was able to force us to recruit a school to adopt the UL-whatever name before we could become UL. I'm not so sure that ULM didn't get the best of us in that deal.
Lighten up.
Our basketball program has been held hostage by a coach who made a mess of things and then got to keep his job because there was A SMALL CHANCE the situation could become worse. Lee's job is not to graduate people. His job is to educate people. What the kid chooses to do with that knowledge is up to them. By all accounts be did OK on the off the court stuff, but that is not why he was hired. I have never heard you do play by play of the guys going to class.
Lee was brought here to win games. Not only did he not win, but he played an almost unwatchable style of basketball, all the while making ridiculous claims like "we are Sweet 16 material".
I wish no harm to Lee and hope he can resume his career somewhere else, but to me his departure is a cause for celebration. I have loved UL/USL basketball since I was 10 and even went to games when I was a student at LSU or lived out of town. This year I watched one game and listened to parts of two others. I can honestly say I felt I missed nothing. You probably scoff at fans like me, but even when I was a kid I never went to the game wondering if Toney or Figaro were progressing on their course work...I was wondering how many points they would score or if we would win. Sadly, during Lee's tenure we mostly wondered if we would be entertained or how were going to blow a lead down the stretch.
I do think the time to dwell on Lee's incompetence should probably end soon. We will be getting a new coach and we all need to get behind him so we can have the kind of team we all want.
All the cheerleaders cheers are UL, never UL L, and anything we chant in the band is UL, as it should be. Well, ULM took it upon themselves to yell "L" after everything us or the cheerleaders said. The cheerleaders started a "WE are UL!" chant. That got ULM really, really, PO'd. It was funny to see them trying to validate themselves.

Where did i fall off the realty train? Its not like I wrote him nasty letters or threw a brick through his house. I simply stated I am glad he is gone. If i made any false statements in my post, I will gladly retract them. Lee was given more than enough time to right the ship. It was simply his time to go.
Like i said previously, it is time to look forward and hope we can find the right coach for our University.
