HOT SPRINGS, Ark. — As UL Monroe guard Tony Hooper hoisted up the desperation shot, UL coach Robert Lee lifted up a prayer. So did ULM coach Orlando Early.

Hooper's 3-pointer slipped through the net with 0.7 seconds left Saturday night, helping the 10th-seeded Warhawks stun the seventh-seeded Ragin' Cajuns, 76-75, in first-round action at the Sun Belt Conference tournament on Convention Center Court.

While ULM (12-18) rejoiced and advanced in the postseason, UL (13-17) was handed a third consecutive loss to a lower-seeded team in the league tournament, its fourth consecutive first-round league tournament loss and fifth straight postseason defeat.
