My thread isn't in response to this past game, it's just my desire to be a respectable program and not to be one that is mocked around the country.

Hey, your attitude is what is wrong. How many top teams have we beaten, and what kind of respect do we have nationally? It is not about if we win or lose, but we have NO RESPECT like Troy does. I am so sick of being the joke of the nation. We need to at least earn some respect, and not get blown off the field by so called 'stronger' teams. Yea, we beat K-State, but they SUCK this year. Why is it ok to lose EVERY game we are not favored in, and some that we are??? This program UNDERACHIEVES every year and we make excuses all of the time. I am SICK of this and am at my limit.
I was wondering what had happened to our beloved Cajuns in the first three games of the season. As it turns out, not much has changed. We're still what we have been for the last 15 years. That is, a lower-level mid-major who from time to time can play with or beat a lower-level bcs team. Any hope that we could be any more than that is a pipe dream.
I had hoped that one day, things would change, but am afraid it isn't in the cards. I know we have one of the lowest budgets in the country, and that isn't going to change any time soon. I love this university, and will never stop hoping that things will get better, but I guess I need to come to the point that many of you obviously are. That is, that we are always going to be small-time. We have a small-time mentality that is not going to change.
I for one, am tired of being embarrassed. We were absolutely skull-drug tonight. Yeah, I know it was a money game, but who says that just because we get a nice paycheck out of these games, that we have to accept being slaughtered like we were tonight. Nebraska may turn out to be much better than their #25 ranking, but come on. We did not belong on the field with them tonight. I take no solace in "staying" within four touchdowns of lsu, or beating an awful KSU team that will probably not win a single game in the Big 12. I take no pride in "competing" for a sunbelt title once every 5-7 years.
For those who are content with being in the bottom 20 teams in the country every single year, please tell me how you do it. I'm not being facetious. I really want to know.![]()
None, and ZIP!
We sucked tonight. Period.
It was Nebraska's shining moment in their historical celebration. Let's just give it to them and move on. We have a couple of weeks to rest and then on to Sunbelt play where we can (AT LEAST THIS YEAR), make progress in our own race for a bowl game.
After listening to this game, NOBODY would have stood a chance against the Huskers! We just happened to be on the schedule at the wrong time. Fault our AD for that.
Yeah, we had no TD's in the last two weeks. No excuse against LSU, but was unlikely tonight.
Time to rest and get ready for what we CAN do this year. NO Bowl!
AMEN!!! I will never give up pulling for this program to succeed, but I am done with the expectations. I am not satisfied with being mediocre, and I do not accept losing like this. Low expectations and excuses are for losers. I am done defending this program to my peers, because there is NO excuse for consistently being near the bottom, low budget or not. I am embarrassed to have two degrees from this university if we accept this kind of production!!!
No offense but maybe you need to find a new way to place value on your education. I for one do not put any stock in the football team as weighing on the value of my degree. I would say your education here is something to be proud of no matter the W/L record of one of the athletic programs. Look at the great things this university does Academically, that is more a measure than this.
I am not referring to the educational value here. I am referring to the pride in saying that I have something to do with the athletic program. It just sucks trying to separate the two for those who cannot make the distinction. Having a respectable program on the feild just makes it easier when referring to our university to those who are not from Louisiana. Not all of us stick around the state.
the reason why we have such a talent gap is because we strive for mediocrity and successful players and big name players dont want to play for a team that expects mediocrity. They wanna play for teams who want to be the Best.
Yes its one step at a time, but if you honestly "think you can play with anyone" like Bustle quotes in an interview, then show some balls and back up what you say.
Yes its a money game but another reason why we get overlooked for bowl games is cause we cannot beat anyone credibly good enough to actually get any recognition. so we win sunbelt, and say we do it with a 7-5 record. We'll get over looked because the only teams we beat were sunbelt and mediocre teams. thats why we need to be 8-4 or better.
idk, yall can accept the .500 program we have, i dont like it. We need to do like Nelson Stokely did and actually have winning seasons again. I'm tired of mediocrity.
