I was wondering what had happened to our beloved Cajuns in the first three games of the season. As it turns out, not much has changed. We're still what we have been for the last 15 years. That is, a lower-level mid-major who from time to time can play with or beat a lower-level bcs team. Any hope that we could be any more than that is a pipe dream.
I had hoped that one day, things would change, but am afraid it isn't in the cards. I know we have one of the lowest budgets in the country, and that isn't going to change any time soon. I love this university, and will never stop hoping that things will get better, but I guess I need to come to the point that many of you obviously are. That is, that we are always going to be small-time. We have a small-time mentality that is not going to change.
I for one, am tired of being embarrassed. We were absolutely skull-drug tonight. Yeah, I know it was a money game, but who says that just because we get a nice paycheck out of these games, that we have to accept being slaughtered like we were tonight. Nebraska may turn out to be much better than their #25 ranking, but come on. We did not belong on the field with them tonight. I take no solace in "staying" within four touchdowns of lsu, or beating an awful KSU team that will probably not win a single game in the Big 12. I take no pride in "competing" for a sunbelt title once every 5-7 years.
For those who are content with being in the bottom 20 teams in the country every single year, please tell me how you do it. I'm not being facetious. I really want to know.
